While I've been raising cattle for over 50 years, 2024 is the year we started raising Red Poll . I've kicked the idea around for several years but have been unable to g acquire any stock . That is something I hope to eventually remedy at least here in Missouri, that is make the breed available . Most owners of the breed seem more interested in showing them, which is fine but it makes it very hard to get any real growth . Also most herds are very small . I am a production farmer interested in growing the breed and establishing other herds here in Missouri and the surrounding area . The prices I charge will reflect that and my aim is to build a herd that will represent the breed in a good light . It will probably take a couple of years before I can get the numbers where I want and be able to sell heifers but bulls will be available in 2025 .
